Kula is the Hawaiian word for school and Mele Hawai‘i is Hawaiian music. The name "Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘i" reflects the spirit of our school. Your learning preference can be either in a classroom setting with other students or in a private lesson environment where Kumu Akaka will work with you individually.

Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘i School of Hawaiian Music is a Hawaiian Music school headed by steel guitar master Alan Akaka. Concerts will resume in 2022 as health and venue policies allow. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Ke Kula Mele Spring and Winter Concerts have been canceled for 2021.
